Whilst we continue to champion reading at our school, we now are beginning to turn our eyes to the research on the teaching of mathematics. To this end Mrs Karthik and myself will be attending a two-day conference, Numerate Futures, on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th May at Meridian State College near the Sunshine Coast. We are keen to hear the latest evidence regarding intervention strategies for mathematics. The session on Mathematics Modelling will also be particularly relevant in light of the changes to Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum. Mrs Downing will be teaching the 4/5/6 class on this Friday.
