NAPLAN Results

We received some preliminary NAPLAN results last week and it was wonderful to see that our Explicit Improvement Agenda of Reading has reaped rewards with 100% or Year 3s and 57% or our Year 5s achieving Strong or Exceeding results. Over the last two years we have made many evidence based changes to the teaching of reading at Depot Hill State school including training all teachers and teacher aides in the SoundsWrite phonics Programme, purchasing thousands of dollars worth of decodable readers, investing in digital tools such as DRA readers and training a full time teacher aide to provide daily intervention for students who are not reaching benchmarks. It is so pleasing to see this work by all staff paying such dividends.​​​
