Harmony Day
This Friday, 27th March, our school will celebrate Harmony Day and students are invited to wear orange to mark the occasion. Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It's about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. On parade this week, we discussed the fact that over half of all Australians were born overseas or their parents were born overseas. We also discussed the fact that it is our shared values of freedom, respect and a fair go for everyone are what make us Australian rather than where we were born.
Our Harmony Day celebration will run from 9.00-11.15am. We will begin in the library then move to the basketball court to enjoy a variety of activities. We have invited various community members to be part of our celebrations and the students will be immersed in activities which help to grow their understanding of different cultures. Parents and community members are most welcome to attend. If you would like to run an activity with the students please contact me to discuss.
