Explicit Improvement Agenda
At Depot Hill State School our Explicit Improvement Agenda is Using appropriate Pedagogies, with a priority on Literacy, to meet the needs of all learners. This semester, we have trained staff to use a reading assessment known as DIBELs. We will use this tool to ensure that our literacy interventions are tailored to the needs of the students and to be sure that no student is left behind. On Fridays, Mrs Karthik will also be involved in planning to provide consistency across the school in Literacy Instructional Routines.
At Depot Hill, we also continue to prioritise digital innovation in teaching and learning by connecting all students to digital learning opportunities through access to devices and technology. The school has purchased 20 new iPads and also a subscription to an online resource called Decodable Readers Australia which is being used in reading groups and for intervention. Students can also access this website from home and use for home reading practice.
