Each year, our students are offered the opportunity to march for their school in the Rockhampton Regional Council ANZAC Day March. If you would like your child to accompany us on this march, please complete the permission form attached to this week's newsletter. Students are to dress in school uniform and protocol states that medals belonging to family members or friends are to be worn on the right side. We have been asked that this year parent participation be kept to a minimum, if possible, due to the volume of participants in the March. Parents/Guardians accompanying younger students in the march are kindly requested to dress appropriately for the service.
The March will step off from the intersection of Archer and Alma Streets at 9:57. Our school meets in front of the Alma Street Vet Surgery and, as we are positioned at the back of the line, we generally do not start marching until 10.15 or later. To prevent students standing in the sun for too long, I would recommend arriving at the march at 10am. Vehicle passenger drop off areas will be provided at the Archer Park Rail Museum. Under no circumstances will buses or vehicles be permitted to stop at the intersection of Archer and Denison Street. It is NOT SAFE to do so.
The March route follows Archer Street, Victoria Parade and continues along Quay Street. At the completion of the March, schools will disperse on Quay Street in the carpark between Derby and Stanley Streets and we ask that participants disperse quickly to avoid any bottlenecks. Parents please wait in this carpark to collect your student/s. SES shall be onsite to assist with safe dispersal, please follow their directions. Students are reminded to bring water, wear a hat and sunscreen.
