NAIDOC Week Celebrations
Last week, some students were able to take the opportunity to join with families across Queensland and Australia in celebrating NAIDOC Week.
The 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly, is about the past, present and future. It is a tribute to the Elders, the organisers, the artists and the communities who participate each year.
As the celebrations occurred on the holidays, Depot Hill State School will hold a special NAIDOC Week celebration next Wednesday, 22nd July at the school. We invite all parents and community members to attend for a morning of culture and connection.
Our Programme is to meet on the basketball court from 9.00-9.30am for a special parade followed by a morning of cultural activities culminating at 12pm with a shared lunch of kangaroo sausages and a piece of celebratory cake.
Through education, we play a vital role in building brighter futures by fostering respect, inclusion and pride in culture and histories and we are looking forward to spending this special day with members of our community.
