A big thank you to Judi Blanchard who came to the
Yr 5-6 classroom today to talk to the students about owning a small community business. This term the Year 5-6 Social Sciences unit is about economics so it was great to hear from Judi who, with her husband Rod, ran the Depot Hill store on the corner of Campbell Street for twenty years. Judi had plenty of stories to share about the importance of business to build a sense of community and the types of decisions you need to make to run a successful business.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the other tireless community members who work in our school. We are fortunate indeed to have these wonderful people from our community who feel so connected to the school that they are willing to give hours of their time to improve the lives of our students.
We have Miss Marilyn in the tuckshop who comes to school every day from 6-9am to prepare the free lunches which are provided for all students who require it; Mrs Madsen who works within the classrooms on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays when she is not providing Religious Instruction; John and Isabell Millar who work in the gardens and classroom on every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-12pm and Carol Woo and Marie who volunteer within the classroom every Monday and Wednesday from 9-11.15am.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to these wonderful volunteers! Our school would not be the same without you!
