Book Week
This week all Australian Schools are celebrating Book Week which is an annual event run by The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA). This year's celebration will run from Saturday 16 to Saturday to 23 August and the 2025 theme is Book an Adventure! 2025 is also a milestone year as we celebrate 80 years of Children's Book Week! For 8 decades, CBCA has worked in conjunction with schools to inspire young minds to journey through the countless worlds that books offer.
At Depot Hill State School, we will be celebrating 'everything books' with daily events. On parade yesterday, Miss Andrea read one of the shortlisted stories to the school and on Tuesday, the upper school students held a reading event on the basketball court where they read to the younger students. On Wednesday, there will be a scavenger hunt in the library using this year's shortlisted books and we will conclude the week with a Book Week parade on Friday, where parents are invited to see the wonderful costumes which our students have chosen to wear to show they are willing to Book an Adventure with their favourite characters!
