P & C Meeting

Our last P & C meeting of the year will be held next Wednesday, 3rd December. We will be discussing the introduction of a School Resource Scheme (SRS) at Depot Hill State School in response to the Back to school boost which will begin next year to provide a $100 credit for every primary school student (Prep to Year 6) enrolled at our school. The Back to School boost will help families cover the cost of school essentials. We have been given the following information regarding the use of this payment.

The department will centrally apply a $100 credit to each enrolled student's account at the start of the 2026 school year. State Schools must ensure implementation is consistent with the following key principles:

·        Reduced schooling costs for families: the $100 is designed to reduce costs such as excursions, camps, Student Resource Scheme (SRS) fees, or uniforms purchased from school or Parents & Citizen (P&C) run uniform shops.

·        Parent choice: Parents will select which school cost they would like the $100 used for, parents must agree before the $100 is used to cover the school cost (e.g., extracurricular activities, excursions, school camps or SRS fees). Even if participating in an SRS or activity, parents have a choice on whether to apply the $100.

·        Transparency: Schools are required to clearly show parents how the $100 is used. Any unspent funds remain in the student's account until they leave or graduate from the school.

·        New or additional benefit: The $100 is a new benefit for families. This means it cannot be used to pay for resources or activities that were previously paid for by the school.

·        No retrospective use: The $100 cannot be used to repay parent's debts incurred before 2026.

·        Not a cash payment or voucher: the $100 is not:

o   paid directly to parents as cash

o   paid as reimbursement for a parent's purchase at other stores

o   issued as a voucher to use elsewhere.

We would welcome any parents to this meeting who would like to have a say how this funding is to be spent.
